A/N: AU; the trio and Bronx were taken from the rookery and hid with Demona while Castle Wyvern was sacked.

She calls him to her when the moon is dark, teaches him with hands and lips and teeth. It is testament to their success driving the humans back that she can take this chance, risk weeks of being egg-heavy and unable to fight or flee.

He is nothing like the one she loved, still loves, silver hair and russet skin, anxious desire to please. No muted shadows and darkness, no rock-solid steadiness, no rock-headed stubbornness. Her mind prefers this; her heart longs for the other.

She draws him close, young, malleable, hers. It is high time to take a consort.
